Start with an assessment
If you are thinking about whitening, begin with the condition of your teeth and gums rather than a shade promise. A dental professional can check whether treatment is suitable and explain the options relevant to you. An online enquiry or a photograph cannot replace that assessment.
Tell the dentist what you would like to discuss and ask how existing dental work might affect the plan. You do not need to send your dental history through this demo form. A real practice would explain how to share health information appropriately.
Understand what can change
Whitening changes the colour of natural teeth. It does not lighten crowns, veneers, dentures or implants. That distinction matters if you have visible restorations, because they may look different beside whitened natural teeth.
Ask what a realistic change might be for your starting point. Stock photographs and another person’s result cannot predict your own. A useful consultation explains limitations as well as the intended aim of treatment.
Ask about the proposed method
A dentist should explain the proposed treatment and how you would use it. Ask what appointments are involved, which instructions you will receive and who to contact if you are unsure about anything during the course.
Before agreeing, check what is included in the written estimate. For example, ask how assessment, any prescribed kit, reviews and follow-up questions are handled. These are practical questions to discuss, not a promise that every practice follows the same package.
Discuss possible side effects
Temporary sensitivity and irritation of the gums can occur with whitening. Ask how these possibilities relate to you and what to do if symptoms bother you. Follow the instructions provided by your dental professional rather than changing treatment yourself.
This article does not recommend a product or supply personal advice. If you have a question about an existing treatment or a symptom, contact the dental professional responsible for your care.
Give yourself time to decide
A considered decision can include choosing not to proceed. Ask about appropriate alternatives, what further information is needed and whether you can take the explanation home before making up your mind. You should understand the proposal in your own words.
Aveline is a fictional private practice demonstration. Its photographs are illustrative and its fees are samples. The request flow shows how an enquiry could work, but does not send anything or arrange dental treatment. The NHS patient guide below offers further general information.
